To continue my study in bringing more realism into my work, I’ve created a fantasy self portrait. Since there is a deviation in the color and shading from the Manga Studio image and the finished image, the actual shading appears darker and the contrasting colors of blue in the shading and orange in the highlights (especially in image 6) does not show up.

Here’s a side project that I’m working on called “Relative Perspective”. It’s an older sketch that is a bit washed out but I’ll be building a digital color version. I’ll post updates as I finish each step.

I thought I’d share a digital recreation of an old wooden block print I used to to make business stationary. It originally took a couple of days to design and carve the wood blocks. One was the chains the other was the bats. I would use red and black acrylic paints on paper cut down to 8.5″ x 5.5″. A regular piece of copy paper split in half would make 2 pages of stationary.
In less than 3 hours I was able to recreate it digitally. The only things missing are the striations from the wood blocks and the occasional blending of the colors due to rushing the printings.
